Collection: Adirondack Chairs

Adirondack chairs are the most recognizable seat in American outdoor furniture, and for good reason. The wide armrests, deep pitched seat and tall fanned back are built for staying put a while. Our collection covers solid acacia hardwood, all-weather HDPE poly, folding designs for small patios, rocking versions, and two-seat benches with a table built between them.

How to Choose an Adirondack Chair

The first decision is material, and it drives almost everything else about how the chair will live on your patio.

Solid acacia and other hardwoods give you the classic look and real weight, so they stay put in wind and feel substantial to sit in. Acacia is naturally dense and weather resistant, and it takes a warm honey tone that silvers gracefully if you leave it untreated. It does want a coat of sealant once a year to hold its color.

HDPE poly is the low-maintenance route. It is a recycled plastic lumber that will not splinter, rot, fade badly, or need sealing, and it rinses clean with a hose. It costs a little more up front per chair and reads slightly more modern than wood, but it is genuinely a buy-once product.

After material, think about how the chair earns its space. A folding chair matters if you store furniture over winter or work with a small balcony. A rocker suits a porch better than an open deck. Multi-piece sets that include a side table save you sourcing a table separately and usually cost less than buying the pieces apart.

One practical note on weight capacity. Published capacities on these chairs run from roughly 300 to 400 pounds, and the higher rated frames tend to feel more solid in everyday use regardless of who is sitting in them. If a chair will see heavy rotation with guests, the 400 pound frames are worth the small premium.

Finally, check assembly. Some chairs arrive with the backrest pre-assembled, which turns a forty minute job into a ten minute one. We note assembly state in the specifications on every product page.

Adirondack Chair FAQs

Are Adirondack chairs comfortable without cushions?

The design was made to be comfortable bare. The seat slopes back and the tall fanned backrest supports your spine, so most people sit for long stretches without a cushion. Cushions are usually added for looks or for extra softness on hardwood slats rather than out of necessity.
