Folding Wooden Adirondack Lounge Chair in Natural Finish
Available in stock
At 16 pounds, this is the lightest chair in the collection, and it folds down to about 13 inches wide. If your outdoor space is a balcony, or you move seating around to follow the shade, those two numbers are the whole argument.
Built for lounging, not sitting up
The back is taller and wider than a standard Adirondack and the seat pitches further back, so it holds you in a reclined position meant for an afternoon rather than a quick sit. It's slatted throughout, so rain drains through instead of pooling and it dries fast.
What the low weight trades
Fir is a softwood rather than a dense hardwood, which is what makes it this light and this affordable. It benefits more than acacia does from a yearly coat of exterior sealant and from being folded away between seasons. Being light, it'll also move in strong wind, so bring it in when weather turns.

Fir is a softwood, and that has tradeoffs
Fir is a softwood
Fir is a softwood rather than a dense tropical hardwood, which is why this is the lightest chair in the collection at 16 pounds and one of the least expensive.
The yearly coat matters more here
Untreated it silvers within a season like most outdoor wood. A coat of exterior oil or sealant once a year holds the tone and slows moisture getting into the grain, which counts for more on a softwood than on acacia.
Light enough to move, so move it
Because it is light it will shift in strong wind. Fold it and bring it in when weather turns, store it under cover through winter, and keep the pivots clear of grit.
Folding Adirondack Lounge Chair FAQs
How light is this chair, really?
How light is this chair, really?
16 pounds, which is roughly half what our hardwood chairs weigh. One hand carries it across a yard. That is genuinely useful if you move seating around to follow the shade.
How small does it fold?
How small does it fold?
Down to about 13 inches wide, narrow enough to lean against a wall or slide into a closet. It is the most compact folded footprint in this collection.
Is it comfortable enough for a long afternoon?
Is it comfortable enough for a long afternoon?
It is built as a lounger rather than an upright chair, with a taller, wider back and a slanted seat. Most people find it comfortable bare; a cushion is preference rather than necessity.
Does fir hold up outdoors as well as acacia?
Does fir hold up outdoors as well as acacia?
Fir is a softwood, so it benefits more from a yearly coat of exterior sealant and from being stored under cover between seasons. Treated that way it lasts well. If you want a chair you can neglect entirely, our HDPE options are the better fit.
Will it blow around in wind?
Will it blow around in wind?
At 16 pounds it can. Fold it flat and bring it in when weather turns, which takes about five seconds.
