High Back HDPE Adirondack Rocking Chair, 400 lb Capacity
Out of stock
This is the rocker you set on a porch and enjoy for a decade without a second thought. It's high-density polyethylene rated to 400 pounds, the highest capacity in the collection, so it takes the years and the weather in stride.
A backrest that clears your shoulders
A standard Adirondack backrest stops around the shoulder blades. This one carries on past them, so your head and neck have something to rest against when you tip backward. If you're much over five foot eight, that's the difference between a chair you sit in and a chair you stay in.
A rocker with nothing to refinish
Rockers wear where the base meets the ground, and on a wooden rocker that's exactly where the finish goes first. Poly has no finish to lose. The color runs through the material, the base takes the contact without marking up, and the 400 pound rating comes from a reinforced frame rather than thick tube stock.

Why HDPE needs almost nothing from you
Color runs all the way through
HDPE is recycled plastic lumber, and the color goes through the material rather than sitting on the surface. A scratch shows the same black underneath and effectively disappears.
Nothing to seal or repaint
It will not splinter, rot, warp, or bleed rust stains, and it never needs sealing, staining, or painting. Rain, snow, and full sun do it no harm.
A hose and one yearly check
Rinse it down, use mild soap and water for anything stubborn, and check the rocker hardware once a year. That is genuinely the whole routine.
HDPE Adirondack Rocking Chair FAQs
How does an HDPE rocking chair compare to a wooden one?
How does an HDPE rocking chair compare to a wooden one?
HDPE costs a little more up front and gives you back every hour you would have spent sealing or staining. It will not splinter, rot, or fade badly, and the color runs through the material so scratches do not show. Wood wins on warmth and grain; HDPE wins on never thinking about it again.
Is the rocking motion smooth on an uneven patio?
Is the rocking motion smooth on an uneven patio?
The base is a solid rocker with a controlled arc, so it rides steadily. On uneven pavers it will find the high point like any rocker, so pick the flattest spot you have.
Does it need to be covered or stored in winter?
Does it need to be covered or stored in winter?
No. HDPE handles rain, snow, and hard freezes without damage. Cover it only if you would rather not wash it come spring.
How much weight does it hold?
How much weight does it hold?
400 pounds, on a reinforced frame. It is the highest-rated rocking chair in this collection.
Is the high back noticeably more comfortable?
Is the high back noticeably more comfortable?
For anyone over about five foot eight, yes. The extra height supports your head and neck rather than stopping at the shoulder blades, which is what makes long sits comfortable.
