If you want an Adirondack chair you never have to think about again, this is the one. HDPE poly does not splinter, rot, fade badly, or need sealing, and it cleans with a hose. The tradeoff against wood is a slightly more contemporary look and a little more weight to move around.
The backrest is the point
The back is curved across 30.5 inches and set at a 99 degree angle, which follows the natural line of the spine rather than forcing it straight. In practice that means less pressure on the lower back over a long sit. The armrests are wide enough to rest a forearm comfortably, and one side carries a molded cup holder so a drink is not balanced on a slat.
What HDPE actually is
High-density polyethylene is a recycled plastic lumber, the same material used for marine dock furniture. Color runs through the whole thickness rather than sitting on the surface, so scratches do not show as pale marks the way they do on painted wood or powder-coated metal. It shrugs off salt air, chlorine, and UV, which makes it a sensible choice for poolside and coastal patios where wood needs constant attention.

HDPE poly is recycled plastic lumber with the color molded through, not painted on. Nothing peels because there is no coating, nothing splinters because there is no grain, and nothing rots because it is not wood.
A rinse is the routine
Cleaning is a hose. For pollen, tree sap, or a winter's worth of grime, mild soap and a soft brush handles it. Avoid abrasive pads, which can dull the surface over time.
Outside, year round
