Solid Acacia Adirondack Chair with Wide Armrests
Available in stock
This is the most solid-feeling Adirondack we carry: the heavier of our two solid acacia chairs, rated to 400 pounds and noticeably more rigid to sit in because of it. If a chair's going to see constant use through a summer, or hold guests of varying sizes, that extra frame strength is what you feel.
A seat angle that does the work
The seat is gently sloped rather than flat, which tips your hips back and lets the backrest carry your weight instead of your lower back doing it. That's the whole idea behind the Adirondack shape, and it's why these chairs stay comfortable far longer than a straight-backed patio chair. Wide armrests give you somewhere to set a glass down and something solid to push off when you stand.
Acacia and what it asks of you
Acacia is naturally oily and dense, which is what lets it hold up to rain and sun without chemical treatment. Untreated, it drifts toward a silver gray. A yearly coat of exterior sealant keeps the warmer original color. Neither path changes the working life of the chair, so treat it as a purely aesthetic decision.

Caring for solid acacia outdoors
The weight is the point
This is a heavy chair and the mass is deliberate. Solid acacia resists moisture and insects on its own, so the only real decision is whether you want it honey-colored or silvered.
One coat each spring
Wash it with mild soap and water, then brush on exterior hardwood oil if you want the original tone back. Skip the oil and it weathers to gray, which suits a lot of decks better than people expect.
Drag, do not lift
Because of the weight, drag it rather than lifting it alone, and check the hardware each spring. Where winters bring hard freezes, cover it or bring it in.
Heavy-Duty Acacia Adirondack Chair FAQs
How heavy is this chair, and will it blow around?
How heavy is this chair, and will it blow around?
It is the heaviest acacia Adirondack we stock, which is exactly why people choose it. It stays put in wind that will skid a lighter chair across a deck, and it feels planted rather than springy when you sit down.
How wide are the armrests?
How wide are the armrests?
Wide enough to hold a drink and a book at the same time without either balancing on the edge. That is the practical difference between this and a standard Adirondack profile.
Is 400 pounds a real rating?
Is 400 pounds a real rating?
It is the manufacturer's rating for the frame, and the construction backs it up: thicker stock than a budget chair and a triangular base that spreads load into the ground rather than into the joints.
Will it silver like other acacia furniture?
Will it silver like other acacia furniture?
Yes if left untreated, going soft gray within a season or two. One coat of exterior hardwood oil each spring keeps the honey tone. The structure is unaffected either way.
Can two people manage the assembly?
Can two people manage the assembly?
One person can do it comfortably in about half an hour. Moving it into position afterwards is the part where a second pair of hands helps.
