Folding Wood Adirondack Chair in Gray Finish
Available in stock
This is the easy way to add a couple of extra seats for summer. It's the most affordable folding Adirondack we carry, so buying two or three of them is practical rather than a splurge, and they fold away the rest of the year.
Full size open, gone when closed
The seat and armrests are full Adirondack proportions, so nobody sitting in one can tell it folds. Closed, it goes flat enough to lean against a wall, slide into a closet, or stack two or three together in a garage.
Poplar and the price it buys
Poplar is softer than the acacia and eucalyptus in our pricier chairs, so it marks more easily and does better stored between spells than left out through every season. That's the trade that puts it at this price. Touch up any chip in the painted finish promptly and it holds up well year after year.

Looking after a painted poplar frame
Poplar, and what that buys you
Poplar is lighter and softer than the acacia in our pricier chairs, which is part of why this one costs what it does. The gray is a finish applied over it rather than the wood's own tone.
Two minutes on a chip
Keep a small tin of matching exterior paint on hand. Touching up early stops moisture getting into bare wood, which is what actually shortens a painted chair's life.
Fold it, store it, keep it dry
Wipe it down a few times a season, fold it flat and store it under cover between uses or over winter, and keep the pivot points clear of grit.
Folding Wood Adirondack Chair FAQs
Is a poplar Adirondack chair durable enough for outdoor use?
Is a poplar Adirondack chair durable enough for outdoor use?
Yes for regular seasonal use, especially if you fold and store it between spells. Poplar is softer than acacia or eucalyptus, so it takes marks more easily, which is reflected in the price. Store it under cover and it lasts well.
What happens if the gray finish gets scratched?
What happens if the gray finish gets scratched?
A deep scratch shows lighter wood underneath. A dab of matching exterior paint covers it and, more importantly, keeps water out of the bare spot. Worth doing promptly rather than at the end of the season.
How compact is it folded?
How compact is it folded?
Flat enough to lean against a garage wall, slide into a closet, or stack two or three together. That is the main reason to pick this over a fixed chair.
What is the weight capacity?
What is the weight capacity?
250 pounds. If you need a higher rating, our acacia and HDPE chairs run to 350 and 400 pounds.
Is this a good chair for occasional guest seating?
Is this a good chair for occasional guest seating?
That is exactly what it is best at. Full Adirondack comfort when you need extra seats, folded away and out of sight when you do not, at a price that makes buying two or three sensible.
