Contoured rather than flat
The seat is shaped rather than a straight plank, which sounds like a small thing and is not. A contoured seat spreads your weight across a wider area and stops the front edge pressing into the backs of your legs, which is what usually ends a long sit in a cheaper chair. Combined with the reclined backrest, it is the reason people stay in these chairs after the sun goes down.

Keeping the natural finish looking right
Bare acacia, nothing on top
A natural finish means you are looking at the acacia itself, with no stain or paint sitting over it. That is the appeal, and it is also what decides your upkeep.
Driftwood gray or honey
Do nothing and it drifts to a driftwood gray over a season or two. Oil it each spring with exterior hardwood oil and it stays the warm honey color shown here. Neither choice affects how long it lasts.
Rinse, wipe, snug
Rinse with mild soap and water a few times a season, wipe up wet leaves before they sit, and snug the hardware once a year. A cover through a hard winter is the best thing you can do for it.

This one is the lighter-framed of our two 400 pound acacia chairs, so it is easier to move around the yard while carrying the same rating. If you want the heaviest, most planted feel, the wide-armrest version is the one to look at.

No. Acacia has enough natural oil to go straight outside. Sealing is optional and only about holding the original color rather than protecting the wood.

Less than a solid surface would. The slatted seat lets air move underneath, so it runs cooler than molded plastic or a solid panel and dries within minutes of a rain shower.
