The fir and pine go through a carbonization process that drives out moisture and hardens the surface, so the wood stands up to wear and weather far better than raw softwood. The result is a warm brown table with real presence. Like any stained wood left outside, the finish softens over a few seasons, and a light re-coat brings the color right back.
Built not to wobble
The legs measure 2.3 inches across and tie into reinforcing bars low on the frame, so the table stays planted when you set weight on the edge. At 24 inches square the top holds more than a single drink: a lamp, a tray, a stack of books beside the seat.
